Community Information
Dougherty Valley already has an array of parks, a community center, a 92-seat theater and a police substation, and eventually it will have a village center with 178,000 square feet of retail and commercial space.

It also will have a new senior center. The city has been using two donated vans from County Connection to transport Dougherty Valley residents to the already existing San Ramon Senior Center on Alcosta Boulevard, the city's most-used facility.

A significant number of new Dougherty Valley residents speak English as a second language, including residents from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Pakistan and other countries. As Asian working couples with children bring their parents from abroad, a substantial culture shock exists for these seniors.

The Chinese American Senior Center recently began offering classes at the San Ramon Senior Center and also has used the Alamo Women's Club and a community room at the Alamo Safeway store for classes.Added transportation service for them and other residents and commuters has become a key goal for the city.
