Labor Day Activities to do at Home
Happy Labor Day! Such a great day to recognize the contribution of our workers to our country's success.
To many, Labor Day means a long weekend to go out of town, or go shopping, or do something fun. But there are those who would also choose to stay at home and rest. If you're reading this article, you might be one of the them.
Here are 7 ways to make this Labor Day weekend more meaningful while staying at the comfort of your home.
1. Host a cook-out
Nothing makes a better holiday than great company and great food. It makes it even better if you don't have to go anywhere for it. If you've been waiting for the perfect time to invite friends over and perhaps share the dish you love to cook, it's now.
2. Read that book
Have you heard of the Japanese word "tsundoku"? It means the art of buying many books but not reading them. Could you relate?
If you're guilty of it, then it's time to change it by starting THAT book that you've been planning to read for so long but life keeps getting in the way. Slow down, light that candle and curl up in your reading chair.
3. Tackle a house project
If you're a DIY-er, then the perfect activity for you this weekend is tackling that home project that you've been wanting to work on.
Prepare all your tools and materials, plan accordingly so that you'll still get to chill this long weekend after finishing that home project.
4. Go camping in your backyard
Talk about a combination of outdoor activities while still staying in! If you have kids, you can even give them a taste of what camping is without the exhaustion and the danger, and you might just give them an unforgettable experience.
Do not forget to stargaze before going in your tents!
5. Do a clothes swap
More and more people are becoming aware of the danger of fast fashion to our planet and the unethical ways the clothing companies are paying their employees. This clothing swap would not just support the sustainable movement, you will also get to bond with your friends while you're at it!
If you're not comfortable with a clothes swap, try decluttering your closet so that you'll only have the items that you truly love and get to donate what you've decluttered to those who would really need them!
6. Decorate for fall
Fall is just around the corner! Have a head start by decorating at least a part of your home for the season.
7. Try out that saved recipe
Have you also been scrolling your social media, watched a recipe on Tiktok or Instagram, saved it with the intention of doing it "one day"? That "one day" has come!
No matter how you'd be spending your weekend, wishing you a deeper connection with yourself, and a stronger bond in all your healthy relationships and peace surrounding you all the way.
Have a great long weekend!
