Homes for Sale in Newcastle, CA
CA Los Altos
Newcastle Estates
Is Newcastle, CA a good place to live?
Newcastle, CA offers affordable living right near the heart of San Ramon. The homes for sale are often priced below other neighborhoods’ listings, yet the community offers much of what homebuyers are looking for.
Few communities in San Ramon, CA are as affordable and conveniently located as Newcastle. The homes here are quite designed and built well, too.
Smaller homes offer affordability
Newcastle is comprised of modestly sized patio homes and mid-sized single-family homes. The patio homes tend to have around 1,300 square feet, and regularly list for between $500,000 and $700,000. Single-family homes are usually around 2,000-2,500 square feet, and might list for around $1.3 million to $1.5 million. Most of these homes were built in the late 1980s or early 1990s.
The slightly older age and smaller size make these homes more affordable than the homes for sale in some other San Ramon neighborhoods. The places in Newcastle are still highly desirable, however. They were built solidly when initially constructed, and most have been maintained well and updated over the years.
The patio homes may be especially attractive for young professionals and retirees, as they offer sufficient space at a comparatively low price. The single-family homes tend to have enough bedrooms for a small family, and a yard where kids can play or friends can gather.
Community amenities without high HOA fees
When living here, you’ll have full access to the community pool and playground. These are two amenities that many residents take advantage of, and they don’t increase the HOA fees by an exorbitant amount. There’s also little need for other amenities since so much is so close.
A real estate agent who’s familiar with San Ramon will be able to check what the current HOA fees are, and see how those compare to the fees of other communities nearby.
Conveniently located to San Ramon shops, golf, and the interstate
When heading out of the community, chances are anything you need is no more than a few minutes away. The Marketplace Shopping Center, where you’ll find some restaurants, a grocery store, and some other chain stores, is literally the next turn on Alcosta Boulevard. You can also see Canyon Lakes Golf Course across the boulevard, and Interstate 680 is three turns away.
Interstate 680 will take you directly to Fremont or San Jose if heading south. If going north to Oakland or San Francisco, I-680 connects to Interstate 580 which will take you due north. I-580 can also take you quickly to more open country if you head east on it.
Quiet and safe community
Despite being close to the city’s center, this is a quiet and safe community. There’s no shortcut between major roads, so no random drivers take shortcuts on the side streets. Most people driving here are neighbors (or delivery trucks), and they at least generally know each other. Children generally feel safe playing outdoors, and crime is quite low.
Excellent public and private schools
When it comes to education, both public and private schools in the area provide top-tier education. Montevideo Elementary School, Iron Horse Middle School, and California High School are all highly rated, with the high school having won several awards for being a leader in secondary education and opportunities. As for private schools, those with classical, religious, and other pedagogical approaches are all nearby and have strong track records.
